Greg appeared on BBC Look North tonight to comment on the vitality of Newcastle's local shopping streets. He rejected criticism from local Conservatives that the council was failing to support High Streets and was backing out of town retail, given that there is no evidence at all that the Lib Dems have favoured out of town development. Greg talked about efforts to improve Gosforth High Street including introducing a farmers market outside the Trinity church site, and efforts to regenerate Shields Road and the West Road.
Ironically the Conservatives' "Shadow Minister for Tyneside" Alan Duncan made a speech in Newcastle the same day calling for more out of town Tescos!
