Bolton's Labour MP Brian Iddon has put down a Parliamentary motion congratulating Newcastle City Council on action taken against street pedlars.

More than 50 MPs have signed though none of them is from Newcastle.

Coun Greg Stone, a senior member of the controlling Lib Dem group on Newcastle Council, suspects that may have something to do with the fact all the city's MPs are Labour and don't want to be seen to be supporting the opposition
