Greg raises concerns over new Benton Rd roundabout / Newton Rd parking update

Greg has taken up concerns about the safety of the new Benton Rd roundabout with the council's highways department. It has been agreed that the approach to the new junction should include high-visibility markings, and the engineers are reviewing the plans to see whether safety can be increased, following a number of near-misses caused by drivers unfamiliar with the new layout.

Meanwhile a decision is due imminently to give the go-ahead for an extension of the High Heaton residents parking scheme to Newton Road and Beanley Place, after the introduction of the Southlands and Jesmond Park West scheme caused the parking problems to shift.
