Greg welcomes local medical centre award

Lib Dem spokesman for Newcastle East has welcomed the news that a local GP practice has received a prestigious national award for the quality of its patient care.
Heaton Medical Centre on Heaton Road has been awarded with a Quality Practice Award (QPA) which recognises high standards of patient care delivered by every member of a GP practice.
The award is run by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and recognises the achievement of the entire practice team and is intended to create a sense of team spirit, pride in each other's areas of work and improved understanding of working together towards a better environment for patients and staff. All of the 24 staff members at the practice - including GPs, district nurses, health visitors, practice nurses, reception and administrative staff, and the practice manager actively participated in applying for the award.
Greg said "This practice is an important facility for residents in the Heaton area and I know this centre well as it is just round the corner from my campaign office on Denmark Street. I congratulate the staff on their achievement of such a high standard of care for patients".
