Bookies reckon it's a two horse race: Lib Dems 2/1 to win Newcastle East, Tories 100-1 outsiders

2 horses racing The Lib Dem campaign in Newcastle East has been boosted by the bookmakers by being quoted odds of 2/1 to pull off victory in the constituency in the forthcoming General Election.

By contrast, the Conservatives are quoted as 100/1 outsiders in the seat, conclusively demonstrating that their runner is a rank outsider with little realistic chance of success.

Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman Greg Stone said "I think that the 2/1 on offer on the Lib Dems is a tempting price, but at 100/1 the Tories are well out of the running and it would be a reckless voter who risked a gamble on their untested novice.

These odds confirm that it is the Lib Dems and not the Tories are the only credible challengers to Labour in Newcastle East. The bookies clearly think we have a much greater chance of winning here"
